What is The Golden Kingdom?

What is The Golden Kingdom?

The Golden Kingdom: Z
is a Science Fiction Action Thriller from author Jeremy Jaynes. It is the first in a planned series of three novels in this highly imaginative universe.

Sam is a highly trained Marine.

Renny is not.

When enormous, golden Domes appear on every major continent, families are left cowering from the nightmares they unleash, as society teeters on the precipice of collapse.  And Sam, a young soldier only wanting to help, does the best he can for a time.

However, with his country cracked in two, he and his fellow soldiers - now dubbed “Law Martials” – are asked to enforce Martial Law, causing Sam to question his choices.

When he’s called to face a smalltime dictator who’s overtaken his old hometown, it’s only with the help of Renny, an unlikely ally whose personality is far more cheerleader than action hero, that he might stand a chance.

Their epic journey will take them from the smallest of towns to the biggest of mysteries… the Dome’s very walls. Together, the Martials must work to understand what evils the Domes create and what wonders may lie inside.

Z is the first installment in the science fiction action thriller series The Golden Kingdom.  A tale of understanding what it is to be a hero and how fine a line it is to be villain.  With one great stride into a larger universe, Z sets out to take the world we know and open it up to an adventure we could never imagine.

Characters of The Golden Kingdom: Z

Phoenix One Alpha

Phoenix is the home of the Law Martials.  It is where they are born, bred, and sown into the men and women defending against the literal and figurative monsters unleashed by the Dome.

Ezekiel J. Samuels ("Sam")

"Sam" to his friends and "Zeek" to the Martials, he is the young man at the center of The Golden Kingdom: Z.  Earnest in his passions and honest in his resolve, Sam lives in constant conflict against the enemy and himself. He signed on to save lives and finds taking them more distasteful by the day.

Rennee Tristan ("Renny")

"Renny" is arguably the best soldier (or worst depending on who to talk to) that Sam has ever come across... and she's technically not even trained.  Sure, she might tend to run off half cocked, have little regard to the chain of command, and her motives might be suspect, but without her Sam would not be the same.

Karen Jeffries ("Jeff")

Behind every good man is a hell of a scary woman.  Jeff is part big sister, part leader, and more Martial than any of the men in Phoenix.  If you had to ask for one person to back you up, you could hardly go wrong with Jeff.

Gunnery Sergeant John Werner ("Gunny")

The old Marine, thick as an ox but less friendly, mentors the bright eyed Sam and teaches him the ropes to survive. Gunny's experienced more loss than most on the field - simply because he's survived longer. Sam tends to find himself trying to harden himself - to become more and more like his teacher every day.

Henry Riggs

Leader of Phoenix, Riggs has the unenviable task of asking his Martials to lay down their lives on a daily basis. Of the few leaders around, he knows one thing for certain - they've lost.  Riggs only wants to hold the line and keep his soldiers safe, but neither seem within reach.

Eddie D. Miller

How Eddie's mouth survived basic is a miracle. Regardless, as one of Sam's oldest friends, he wouldn't have his friend anywhere else except at his side.

Aaron J. Kemp

Aaron, on the other hand, was made for this. Also one of Sam's closest friends since childhood, Aaron is the type to do the right thing first and follow orders second. Under most commands, this would get you booted.  Phoenix, to his fortune, is not most commands

The Tricky

Monstrous creatures unleashed by the Domes' walls, no one knows what they are, and few have seen them. Making little to no sound until they are upon you, they are the greatest enemy of a Martial and human kind as a whole.

The Domes

Appearing in the blink of an eye, they changed our world forever. The North American Dome is so large it encompasses the entire western portion of the United States, as well as parts of Canada and Mexico.  What has happened to the people once living there, why they have arrived, and who is behind them are all explored in the pages of The Golden Kingdom: Z.

The characters listed here are only a fraction of those left to meet. Some will seem familiar, while others are unlike anything you've ever seen.
